The Topeka AGA Chapter is a strong supporter of community activities. Each year, the Director of Community Service develops a plan for review and approval by the Chapter Executive Committee. If you are aware of activities that you feel should be added to the list of community activities, please don't hesitate to let us know. Further, please let us know of community activities in which you volunteer. As a member, we will note your service both within the Chapter and in our reports to our National Office.

April 4, 2015 - Run for Life!

On April 4, 2015, please join us for the Run For Life at the Washburn University Campus in Topeka Kansas.  Run For Life’s mission is to promote organ, eye and tissue donation in April as part of National Donate Life Month, while also providing a top-quality running event in honor and memory of donors across our community and country. December 5, 2014: Annual Holiday Celebration and Toys for Tots Fundraiser

Happy HolidaysOur Annual Holiday celebration and Toys for Tots Fundraiser was held at the Reynolds Lodge, Lake Shawnee, Topeka on the evening of December 5, 2014.

Abby Moore, our Community Service chairwoman would like to thank the following donors for their generous contributions towards our Holiday event and fundraising activities:

A special thank you to all our members who attended this event. It was a beautiful evening, with great food, beverages, and company!


October 25, 2014: The Race Against Breast Cancer (RABC)

2014 RABCOn October 25, 2014 the Topeka AGA sponsored a team of six members for the 23rd annual 5K Run/Walk event.  

Our team members were Nickie Roberts, Marie Winter-Zima, Craig Heiland, Kathy Bohnoff, Leah Stewart, and Abby Moore.

The Race Against Breast Cancer, Inc (RABC) was established to pay for a full range of screening/diagnostic mammography services to women who live and work in Northeast Kansas counties (Atchison, Brown, Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson, Nemaha, Osage Pottawatomie, Shawnee and Wabaunsee) who are in need of financial assistance.  Their mission is “Improving health through education, access, early detection, screening, and breast health awareness.”  If you are interested in obtaining a no cost mammogram through the RABC, please call the RABC office at (785) 271-1500.

The AGA RABC team donated a total of 18.5 volunteer hours towards the 2014 RABC event, and the Topeka AGA Chapter's Loose Change program for August 2014 through October 2014 also collected funds for the RABC.

July and August, 2014: Great Life Golf and Fitness

Shawnee Golf Course The Topeka AGA Chapter would like to thank Great Life Golf for donating two complimentary rounds of golf, each with a free golf cart to our July and August 2014 PLS lectures.

July, 2014: Sunflower State Games

2014 Sunflower State GamesThe Sunflower State games were held in Topeka July 11 - 17, 2014. Folks from all over the State competed in the games.

The AGA Sunflower State Games community service team donated a total of 8.5 volunteer hours towards the 2014 Sunflower State Games.

 

 

Loose Change Program: The Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House LogoThe Topeka AGA Chapter, in conjunction with a matching donation from the AGA National Office donated a total of $57.50 to the Ronald McDonald House charity for the months of May 2014 to July 2014.

Abby Moore volunteered a total of three house for a recent Ronald McDonald House charity event. Thank you, Abby!

Every little bit helps! Thanks to those of you that donated at our monthly PLS lecture series.
